Heroicitás

Heroicitás is an original collection of four historical tales in Interlingue, united by a common theme: acts of courage in moments of war and siege. The book opens with Numantia, set during the Roman siege of the Celtiberian city in the second century BC, and continues with the story of the Miracle of Empel during the Eighty Years' War. The third tale recounts the 1741 siege of Cartagena de Indias, where a much smaller Spanish force faced a major British expedition, while the final story follows the Spanish soldiers who defended the church of Baler in the Philippines for 337 days during the Philippine Revolution and the Spanish-American War. Based on historical events but written as fiction, the four stories focus on the soldiers, commanders and civilians caught in these conflicts, exploring courage, sacrifice, faith, loyalty and resistance against overwhelming odds.
