Mikri Antologie

Mikri Antologie is a poetry anthology in Novial, the constructed language created by Otto Jespersen in 1928. After searching the internet and the CDELI archive, I found almost nothing that could be described as "literature" in Novial beyond a short translated tale, this anthology was compiled to help expand the body of writing available in the language, using the grammar from Jespersen's 1928 An International Language and the vocabulary from his 1930 Novial Lexike. The collection gathers translated poetry spanning an unusually wide range of languages and eras — from the medieval Poema de mio Cid, Bécquer and Lorca in Spanish, to Bashō and Buson in Japanese, Rumi in Persian, Khalil Gibran in Arabic, Li Bai in Chinese, and English-language poets from Blake and Wordsworth to Langston Hughes and Anaïs Nin. The collection gathers translated poetry spanning a wide range of languages and eras.
